Vehicle Window Tinting and the Law

As of 1st January 2004, new legislation has been in affect to restrict certain car windows being tinted.

The new law was put in place as fears were growing that excessively dark tinted windows were restricting visibility in a dangerous manner.

Which Windows Does The Law Prevent From Being Tinted?

The UK Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 Act states that front side windows must allow 70% of light to pass through them, and the windscreen must allow 75%.

If the glass is tinted to a point whereby it lets through less light, then the vehicle does not meet legal requirements.

So What Can We Tint?

No law applies to the tinting of windows behind the front doors, they can be as clear or as dark as you choose

These can be used to henance the appearance of your car, or even change the colour of the roof or the whole car If you own a business you can have you corporate logo as part of the design which is a good way to have a mobile advert for your company

This covers just about every thing to can fit to your vehicle for your “In car entertainment”.

Rear headrest screens can save you the “are we there yet” noise of the kids and will keep them quiet for hours.

If you want to upgrade your sounds then this can be done by having a new head unit fitted with Sat Nav, USB or blue tooth all all of these.

We can also fit “witness cameras” to your car, in the event of an accident it will record the view and could be helpful in an insurance claim.

Changes in the law mean that it’s now illegal to operate your mobile phone in the car whilst driving. Our hands free kits will keep you on the right side of the law and keep your hands on the wheel increasing safety and convenience.
